Worship Arts Volunteer Opportunities


Vocalist

Summary: A Vocalist may sing lead or backup, and is responsible for singing during worship on weekend services and/or other events and services throughout the week. 

Skill or experience needed:  

  • Ability to sing in a contemporary style
  • Ability to sing melody and harmonies by ear. 
  • Ability blend and adapt vocal style with other vocalists
  • Understands and can adapt to different vocal styles. 
  • Ability to engage a group of people and lead them in worship. 

Time Commitment: 1-4 services per month, including the practice prior to service; and listening to and being familiar with the songs before practice. 


Lead Electric Guitar

Summary: Lead Electric Guitarists are responsible for setting up their gear, learning, and playing lead electric guitar sections for weekend worship services and/or other services throughout the week. 

Skill or experience needed:  

  • Ability to read basic chord charts
  • Understanding of what it means to play lead guitar in a modern worship setting 
  • Has a working knowledge of scales and basic music theory
  • Has the ability to learn parts by ear and improvise 
  • Is familiar with his/her equipment, and is able to adapt tone and style to fit different genres of music. 

Time Commitment: 1-4 services per month, including the practice prior to service; and listening to and being familiar with the songs before practice. 


Rhythm ELECTRIC GUITAR / Acoustic Guitar

Summary: Rhythm Electric Guitarists and Acoustic Guitarist are responsible for setting up their gear, learning, and playing  guitar sections for weekend worship services and/or other services throughout the week. 

Skill or experience needed:  

  • Ability to read basic chord charts
  • Understanding of what it means to play guitar in a modern worship setting 
  • Has a working knowledge of some scales and basic music theory
  • Has the ability to learn parts by ear
  • Is familiar with his/her equipment, and is able to adapt tone and style to fit different genres of music. 

Time Commitment: 1-4 services per month, including the practice prior to service; and listening to and being familiar with the songs before practice. 


Bass GUITAR

Summary: Bass Guitarists are responsible for setting up their gear, learning, and playing bass guitar sections for weekend worship services and/or other services throughout the week. 

Skill or experience needed:  

  • Ability to read basic chord charts
  • Understanding of what it means to play bass guitar in a modern worship setting 
  • Has the ability to learn parts by ear 
  • Is familiar with his/her equipment, and is able to adapt tone and style to fit different genres of music. 

Time Commitment: 1-4 services per month, including the practice prior to service; and listening to and being familiar with the songs before practice. 


Keys

Summary: Keys players are responsible for setting up their gear, learning, and playing pads, synth voicing, or piano sections for weekend worship services and/or other services throughout the week. 

Skill or experience needed:  

  • Ability to read basic chord charts
  • Has a working knowledge of different keyboard instruments and styles, and is able to adapt them to a modern worship setting. 
  • Has the ability to learn parts by ear and improvise

Time Commitment: 1-4 services per month, including the practice prior to service; and listening to and being familiar with the songs before practice. 


Drums

Summary: Drummers are responsible for setting up their gear, learning, and playing drum or percussion sections for weekend worship services and/or other services throughout the week. 

Skill or experience needed:  

  • Has the ability to play to a Click Track or Metronome fluently. 
  • Understanding of what it means to play drums in a modern worship setting 
  • Has a working knowledge of drumming styles and is able to adapt them to a modern worship setting. 
  • Has the ability to learn parts by ear. 

Time Commitment: 1-4 services per month, including the practice prior to service; and listening to and being familiar with the songs before practice. 


Calvary Choir

Summary: At Calvary Choir, our motto is "Sing to Express, not to Impress". 

Description:  Calvary Choir prepares for and sings for 3 major events per year: Christmas musical, Easter Passion Play, and 4th of July Celebration. The Choir also supports the worship team on Sunday morning during the 8am Cornerstone service between Labor day and July 4th. Members can participate in one or all of these areas of service. 

Time Commitment: Weekly Wednesday practice, 1-3 Events per year or 1-4 services per month. 


Visual technician

Summary: Visual Technicians are responsible for operating the computer to display lyrics, videos, and visual elements in worship.

Description:  Visual Technicians are responsible for leading the church in worship through worship lyric presentation, as well as video and other visual element presentation through computer and projection equipment. 

Skill or experience needed:  

  • Able to assist in leading worship through the presentation of lyrics at correct time and pace. 
  • Able to become familiar with ProPresenter and other Mac programs (Training provided). 
  • Able to be distraction free in operating lyrics, videos, and other visual elements. 

Time Commitment: 1-4 services per month, including the practice prior to service; and listening to and being familiar with the songs before practice. 


Audio TECHNICIAN

Summary: Audio Technicians are responsible for engineering audio for worship services at Calvary. 

Description:  Audio Technicians are responsible for engineering audio for worship services at Calvary. This individual mixes the worship band to achieve proper sound, as well as mixing for the pastor, as well as other audio elements in the service. 

Skill or experience needed:  

  • Maintains an atmosphere of worship while mixing the audio live during service, including the pastor and other speakers, as well as the audio aspects in videos or background music
  • Familiarity and proficiency with sound board (Training provided)
  • Ability to learn elements of live mixing such as levels, EQ, Compression, Gates, and Effects. 
  • Ability to learn and understand worship flow to facilitate a distraction-free worship experience. 

Time Commitment: 1-4 services per month, the practice before the service you are serving in, and listening to and/or being familiar with the songs before practice.


Lighting TECHNICIAN

Summary: The Lighting Technician is responsible for engineering lighting elements in worship services. 

Description:  The Lighting Technician is responsible for engineering lighting and other visual elements in worship services at Calvary. This person operates lighting throughout the service to achieve the proper atmosphere for worship. 

Skill or experience needed:  

  • Familiarity with the lighting console for proper usage and operation (Training provided)
  • Ability to learn and understand service flow to facilitate a distraction-free worship service
  • Ability to learn elements of lighting design and composition. 

Time Commitment: 1-4 services per month, the practice before the service you are serving in, and listening to and/or being familiar with the songs before practice.

 

Videography teCHNICIAN

Summary: The Videography Technician is responsible for capturing video footage during service. 

Description:  The Videography Technician operates cameras, switchers, and other video equipment during the service. This person captures video footage to aid in the worship service, as well as for internet posting. 

Skill or experience needed:  

  • Ability to operate video cameras, switchers, and recording systems. (Training provided)
  • Ability to earn elements of video design and composition. 
  • Understanding of how to capture video for a distraction-free experience. 

Time Commitment: 1-4 services per month. 

 

Graphic Designer

Summary: The Graphic Designer assists with designing advertisements, sermon themes, and other visual elements. 

Description:  The Graphic Designer creates advertisement slides, sermon theme packages, bulletin elements, social media visual content, and other visual elements for the ministries at Calvary. 

Skill or experience needed:  

  • Ability to use design programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign
  • Understanding of Calvary design processes to maintain consistency (Training provided)

Time Commitment: Varies based on availability.
