Student Ministry Volunteer Opportunities

Small Group Leader

Summary: Small group leaders build relationships with students and lead discussion in small groups of either male or female students. 

Description:  Calvary believes that life change happens best in the context of relationships. Small groups play a vital role in the student ministries at Calvary, as they create a time for relationships to grow among peers and also with adult leaders. After a large group lesson, students are broken up into small groups based on age and gender. Small group leaders then take the prepared small group questions and lead the discussion based on the topic or lesson that evening. 

Skill or experience needed:  

  • Attendee of Calvary for a minimum of 6 months. 
  • Ability to build relationships with students
  • Ability to lead and manage a small group of students

Time Commitment: Weekly student night with a 6 month commitment. 

SMALL GROUP Assistant

Summary: Small group assistants build relationships with students and coordinate with Small Group Leaders to guide small group discussion. 

Description:  Calvary believes that life change happens best in the context of relationships. Small groups play a vital role in the student ministries at Calvary, as they create a time for relationships to grow among peers and also with adult leaders. After a large group lesson, students are broken up into small groups based on age and gender. Small group assistants work alongside Small Group Leaders to facilitate discussion and small group time.

  • Attendee of Calvary for a minimum of 6 months. 
  • Ability to build relationships with students
  • Ability to help guid discussion in small group settings

Time Commitment: Weekly student night with a 6 month commitment. 

game coordinator

Summary:  Game Coordinators work alongside the Student Pastor to plan and facilitate fun games and activities for the weekly student gathering. 

Description:  Being at church should be fun and festive, and part of how we facilitate that culture in the Student Ministries at Calvary is through fun games and activities. The Game Coordinator selects, plans, and executes games for student gatherings. The coordinator works alongside the Student Pastor to plan the activities and programming. 

Skill or experience needed:  

  • Attendee of Calvary for a minimum of 6 months. 
  • Ability to build relationships with students
  • Ability to lead activities for a large group of students. 

Time Commitment: Weekly youth night with a 6 month commitment. 

Event Planner

Summary: Event Planners work alongside the Student Pastor to plan and facilitate various events throughout the year. 

Description:  The Student Ministries at Calvary feature many events throughout the year, ranging from an evening game night at the church to a week long summer camp. Event Planners work with the Student Pastor to plan and facilitate these events

Skill or experience needed:  

  • Attendee of Calvary for a minimum of 6 months
  • Ability to build relationships with students
  • Ability to plan and organize event details
  • Event planning experience desired. 

Time Commitment: Flexible based on availability. 

Special Event Assistant

Summary: Special Event Assistants are present at events such as mission trips, summer camps, and winter retreats to facilitate various roles

Description:  Calvary Students take several out of town trips each year, and Special Event Assistants accompany the group on these trips to act as drivers, chaperones, or other required roles. 

Skill or experience needed:  

  • Attendee of Calvary for a minimum of 6 months
  • Ability to build relationships with students
  • Ability to travel and assist with camps and retreats. 

Time Commitment: 1-3 Events per year

Social Media coordinator

Summary: The Social Media Coordinator connects and communicates with students and families about Calvary Student Ministries via social media platforms. 

Description:  The Social Media Coordinator works alongside the Student Pastor to connect and communicate to students and families regarding events, programs and other various items within the Student Ministries.

Skill or experience needed:  

  • Attendee of Calvary for a minimum of 6 months
  • Ability to plan and execute social media programs
  • Ability to communicate the culture of Calvary in the social media realm

Time Commitment: Flexible; 2-10hrs per week.
