Calvary Children's Ministry

Calvary is committed to giving your children a safe and nurturing environment to learn about God. Below is some information about the various stages of our children's ministry. Calvary has created unique ministries and programs designed for children to learn about the Bible in a setting and context appropriate to them. This takes place during each of our services except for our 8:00am service.

NURSERY / PRESCHOOL / KINDERGARTEN

We offer an Early Childhood program that is available at every service for children 6 weeks-1st Grade. Our desire is to see that your child is well cared for in a safe, loving environment where children have age-appropriate lessons and activities that teach them about Jesus. Our nursery is divided into three rooms: infants (Cuddlers), walking through 1 year (Climbers 1), and 2 year olds (Climbers 2). The PreK is for children 3 through 5 years old. Kindergarten is a high energy, kid's church with time for play, activities, and lessons.

1st - 6th Grade

On the weekends, we have Calvary Kids for children in 1st-6th Grade. This is offered on Saturdays at the 5:00pm service, as well as Sundays at the 9:30am and 11am services. Here children learn biblical truth and principles through creative, modern methods such as music, hands-on experiments, games, multi-media instruction, crafts, teaching, drama and small group discussions.

5th & 6th Grade

In addition to the weekend service option, Calvary has a dedicated ministry to children in 5th and 6th grade simply called 'The FiveSix'. They plan special events, trips, service opportunities, and camps for 5th and 6th graders. You can watch the event page of the website to see future opportunities.

The Buddy Program

During the weekend services, we also welcome children/students with Autism, Asperger’s, Down’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and ADHD.  We provide this service to children/students who have suffered a traumatic event, such as the death of a parent or sibling, or other challenging life events. This program currently focuses on infants through the developmental age of 12.

This ministry is available with prior notice during the Saturday service and Sunday morning services at 9:30am & 11am. The volunteers, who are called “buddies”, work one-on-one with the kids in the regular classroom and in both large and small group settings. They also communicate spiritual truths and the love of Jesus during the time spent with each child/student.

Please contact Julie Garnaas for more information and to set up a buddy system for your child! You can contact her at kids@calvarylhc.com
